            PERSONAL HYGIENE AND GOOD MANNER

Personal hygiene is the practice of keeping your body, belonging and environment clean in order to maintain good health, or Personal hygiene is how you care for your body. This practice includes bathing, washing your hands, brushing your teeth, understanding personal hygiene is the best way to keep yourself from infection diseases


Good hygiene is important because it help you and your family from catching diseases that are caused by contamination of things like foods, water and so on, the spreading of germs may cause many diseases that can pass from one person to another. Maintaining good personal hygiene will also help prevent you from spreading diseases to other people.

PRINCIPAL OF PERSONAL HYGIENE

i) Wash your body every day, make sure you take bath with clean water and soap, wash your hair and keep them clean, when taking bath wash yourself well, especially under your armpits and around your genitals. Keeping clean will help you escape skin diseases and remove bacteria that cause body odor.

ii)Always wear clean clothes, make sure you take off the dirty clothes wash them iron them to kill any bacterial in the clothes and make you clothes look tidy

iii)Wash hand with soap and clean water after visiting the toilet and before eating, once you come out of the toilet make sure you use soap and clean water to wash your hands, to get rid all the bacterial in your hands, it is better to use sanitizer to help kill the germs that got into your hand.

wash your hands before and after preparing food. This will stop you contaminating the food, also washing your hands after handling pets and other animals.

iv)Brush your teeth at least twice a day, in the morning and before you sleep, rinse your mouth with clean water after eating make sure you use toothpaste, toothpaste can kill micro bacterial for example Colgate or white dent and so on, you can also begin brushing your baby’s teeth and gums the moment the first tooth pops up. They can brush their own teeth when they at 3 years old.

v)Keep the environment clean, the environment includes your bedrooms, home, village, desk, classroom and school, most of the diseases that affects our community are caused by the unclean environment for example of the diseases malaria, cholera, typhoid and so on.

vi)Cover your mouth and nose with a clean handkerchief or tissue when sneeze or cough, yes it good thing when you sneeze or cough to cover your mouth because most of the respiratory diseases are spread through saliva or fluid contamination

vii)Keep your nails short and clean, make sure your nails are cut and clean, long nails have tendency to hide dirty, by cutting the nails you remove the chance of keeping the dirty

viii)Do not share handkerchiefs, towels and clothes especially underwear, never share your personal things that you use to wipe yourself

ix)Wash your hair at least once a week, you can also use shampoo to clean up your hair and make it look good, comb it every day or keep it well plaited

x) Change your bedding regularly, sleeping with unclean bed sheet could lead to some health problems like sneezing and coughing

xi)Wear comfortable and well-fitting clothes, never wear cloth that is too tight especial during the time to sleep

xii)Avoid picking your nose and biting your nails, if you love to bite your nails you better stop because you may be eating dirty some time.

xiii)Avoid touching other people’s body fluids such as blood, urine, vomit and saliva with your bare hands, this could lead to spread of diseases quickly due to the infections

 

GOOD MANNER

Good manner is behavior that is socially accepted it include honesty, respect for others, politeness and helpfulness. you must learn to practice good manner because any society that you live you must have good manner so that you can live well with the people around you, when we practice basic good manner, we are showing that we have respect to those surround us and we are considerate to their feeling. 


We can show good manners by showing just small good actions for example when you pass someone you either know or you don’t it is important that you greet that person, however it may not be your obligation to greet someone you don’t know, or helping guest some bags when they are leaving your home or holding a door open for someone and smile at them.

PRINCIPLES OF GOOD MANNERS

i)Maintain good posture when sitting or standing, keeping bad posture may cause you to get backbone problems, but also when someone is talking to you then you are not supposed to look away or down.

ii)Welcome visitors warmly introduce them to the people they do not know, be kind to the guest you never know good things can come to you

iii)Be helpful to other people, if you can give assistance, do not wait until you are asked, if you help other people then when you are in need and ask other people then they will help you too

iv)Greet people politely, if you were sitting stand up straight, if you were walking or running, stand still, greeting people while keep walking it show that you do not even care about that person

v)Dress properly according to the occasion and the social norms of your community, never dress inappropriate when you go to the social meeting or gathering.

vi)Cover your mouth when you sneeze, cough or yawn this will stop the spread of any respiratory diseases

vii) Say “please” when requesting for something, it is a good manner to ask something in nice way

viii)Say “thank you” when you are given something or are allowed to do something, “saying thanks” it means that you are showing appreciation to the person who gave you that thing or allowed you to do something.

x)Be punctual when you are meeting or visiting someone, when someone make appointment to meet you or you should meat together somewhere just be punctual and get there in time.
